The traditional method Preparing Yerba Mate involves filling a calabash (cup) with yerba mate leaves and hot water. The drink is then sipped through a metal straw called a bombilla to benefit from all its benefits . The drink is enjoyed either in its pure bitter form, "Mate Amargo", or with a little sugar, "Mate Dulce". The calabash is shared by friends and family, who take turns drinking it, which allows them to share and create unique moments around this naturally energizing plant.

Yerba Mate is considered a staple of the daily routine and is often consumed throughout the day. The traditional way of preparing Yerba Maté is known as Tereré. It's a cold version of mate , prepared by filling a large thermos with cold water, ice, herbs and even citrus slices. The Yerba Maté leaves are then infused in a "Guampa" and drunk through the bombilla . Paraguayans also enjoy drinking Tereré in groups, as it is a great way to socialize and bond with friends and family.

Yerba Maté is enjoyed in a unique way called Chimarrão , another hot version of this energizing brew. The main difference is how the sheets are cut. The traditional method of preparation involves filling a container called a “cuia” with Yerba Maté and steeping it with hot water. It is a common drink during cold days and is very popular in the southern regions of Brazil.
Mate Helado (Iced Mate) is another way to enjoy the plant. This is the Brazilian version of traditional iced tea, made by steeping Yerba mate leaves and adding sugar and lemon juice.

In Uruguay
Yerba Maté is eaten in the same way as in Argentina, in the traditional way . It is incredibly popular and loved by everyone! The main difference in Uruguay is how the leaves are cut. Unlike Argentines, Uruguayans use a blend of pure yerba mate leaves (without the stems), which tends to be stronger in flavor.
Regardless of the country, each way offers a unique taste and cultural experience. It's up to you to discover the method that suits you best!
